My fencing journey started in 2020 after I was laid off from the oilfield during covid. Around that same time, major storms and hurricanes tore through Acadiana, and I watched fence after fence get replaced with rushed installs and subpar workmanship. What really pushed me to take the leap was seeing the fences I built for my own home and for my mothers home hold strong through two back-to-back hurricanes while many others around us were getting knocked over. Then, when it came time to rebuild, I saw too many fences being put back up with the same shortcuts that caused the failures in the first place. That’s when I decided to start my own fence business. With my background in carpentry and a degree in engineering, I knew there was a better way to build, one that prioritizes structural integrity, proven installation methods, and long-term value instead of cutting corners to be the cheapest bid.
So I did what I’ve always done when something matters, I researched it thoroughly. I studied building methods, industry standards, materials, post options, hardware, and what actually performs best in our environment. Then I built Lafayette Fence and Gate around a simple promise: treat every project like it’s going in my own yard. That mindset still guides everything we do, whether we’re installing a cedar privacy fence with concealed steel posts, building an aluminum pool fence for safety and curb appeal, repairing storm damage, or setting gates that swing smooth and latch perfectly.
